How to fix 'Cannot verify server identity'

If you're having a certificate error popping up, you can try this procedure to fix the issue.

For iPhone Devices

1. On your iPhone - please go to the SETTINGS tab on the main screen

2. Click ‘Passwords & Accounts’

3. Under the accounts tab - select your email address

4. Then select your email again on the next tab next to the little ‘account’ label

5. Scroll to the bottom and tap 'Advanced'

6. Scroll to the bottom of the window

Ensure that 'Use SSL' is not enabled / off.

Ensure that the 'Server Port' is set to '143'

7. Tap the 'Account' (back) button

8. Then tap the 'SMTP' option above where you tapped 'Advanced'

9. Tap the primary server option (usually the first one)

10. Adjust the settings as below...

Ensure that 'Use SSL' is not enabled / off.

Ensure that the 'Server Port' is set to '25'

11. Press 'Done'

12. Tap the 'Account' (back) button

13. Press 'Done'

14. Tap the 'Account' (back) button

15. Now close the mail app, and restart. This should fix the issue.

To close mail, double-tap on the home button until you see your apps show up. Swipe 'up' on the Mail app.
